1. The Bowes Museum - An historic, self-proclaimed “French chateau in the north of England”, The Bowes Museum is home to nationally and internationally significant collections, including paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

2. Beamish - Beamish is an unforgettable experience for the entire family, an open air museum preserving the industrial heritage of 19th century north-east England.

3. Killhope Lead Mine - Killhope Lead Mine allows visitors to experience the life and work of the historic lead mining families of the North Pennines.

4. Diggerland - Diggerland is one of a kind - The park contains a range of fun rides, promising an action-packed family day out.

5. Hamsterley Forest - This 2,000 hectare expanse, sprawling along the sides of a sheltered valley, contains something for all the family. Whether for a walk, cycle, horse ride or drive, Hamsterley Forest is only 15 minutes’ drive away and promises a tranquil, scenic day of exploration at your pace.
